The manufacturing plant in Port Elizabeth produces both small and large volume parenterals. 

The main purpose of the Process Technician to take primary responsibility and ownership of the site steam generation and reticulation system including Laboratory and Laundry autoclaves. To maintain, repair and optimise plant, facilities and associated devices to ensure plant availability and product quality at minimum cost without sacrificing standards. To develop and participate in development of preventative maintenance techniques thereby minimising time loss due to unexpected equipment failure.

General Duties:

  1. Maintain, repair & optimise plant, general facilities & associated devices                 

    -                      Upkeep of plant, equipment, spares & relevant documentation / systems

    -                      Plan, budget and prepare the job

    -                      Perform maintenance

    -                      Optimise plant, process/general equipment and systems                                    

  2. Provide specialist technical support & enhance machine, equipment, system & process capability        

    -                      Monitor performance

    -                      Optimise usage of resources

    -                      Resolve & eliminate problems

  3. Develop preventative maintenance techniques

    -                      Perform Root Cause analysis of failures and derive and implement preventative measures to avoid  recurrence

    -                      Participate in team development of preventative measures to avoid unexpected failures 

  4. Manage compliance to Quality Management Systems

    -                      Ensure adherence to all initiatives aimed at minimising impact of technical interventions on product quality

     

  5. Work in teams                                                          

    -                      Communicate effectively in the workplace

    -                      Contribute to self and team development

    -                      Coaching to improve plant performance

    -                      Standby and shift work responsibilities  

  6. From time to time carry out other jobs within the department / factory, which are consistent with the grade, qualification and training of the incumbent
Requirements
  • Minimum N3 with trade. Trades in team balanced between Millwright, Electrician, Instrumentation Mechanician, Fitter and Turner.
  • N6 with Millwright trade preferred for current vacancy.
  • Minimum five years practical experience in the Engineering maintenance field
  • Fundamental understanding of Utility requirements of site manufacturing and laboratory processes.
  • Knowledge of industry best practice preventative maintenance techniques
  • Proficiency in using Computerised Maintenance Management System for logging maintenance activities and building up of maintenance history on equipment.
